The Local Government Unit of Carmen in Cotabato Province recently turned-over five of its completed priority projects to its recipient barangays in a ceremonial turn-over held at the Municipal Hall last Monday, December 21.

Carmen town mayor Moises Arendain and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) XII Regional Director Josephine Cabrido-Leysa, CESO III led the ceremonial turn-over of the said projects, which were funded by the DILG in 2018 and 2019 through its Assistance to Municipalities (AM) and Sagana at Ligtas na tubig para sa lahat (SALINTUBIG) programs.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government XII capacitated the eight (8) pilot LGUs namely; Pigcawayan, Makilala, Kidapawan City, Koronadal City, Tampakan, Lambayong, Senator Ninoy Aquino, and Bagumbayan in doing the Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment (CDRA) on December 8-11, 2020 at The Farm @ Carpenter Hill, City of Koronadal.

Department of the Interior and Local Government XII Regional Director Josephine Cabrido-Leysa, CESO III hailed the “effective management of the series of Serbisyo Caravans” being conducted by the Provincial Government of Cotabato during its fourth Local Serbisyo Caravan in Barangay Linangcob, Kidapawan City last November 24.

Residents of the said barangays were able to attend the one-day activity and availed of the services of various national government agencies that joined the said event while following the health protocols implemented by the government against COVID-19.

Two towns in Region XII turned-over a total of 15 completed priority projects to recipient barangays early this December as response to their communities’ concerns of insufficient water, unsafe homes, and poor road conditions.

President Roxas in Cotabato Province and Maitum in Sarangani Province held their respective ceremonial activities to formally turn-over their implemented projects to recipient barangays, funded through various financial assistance programs of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)  from 2016 to 2019 with a total amount of Php 59,546,136.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) XII expressed its strong support as the Provincial Local Government Units (PLGUs) bid to update and enhance their respective Local Road Network Plans (LRNDP). 

Regional Director Josephine Cabrido-Leysa, CESO III said, the step “will be strategic and effective in prioritizing core roads” to help LGUs gear towards economic progress. 

The LRNDP, once updated, will serve as the provincial governments’ guide in building road networks until 2025.
