Members of the DILG XII Regional Executive Committee (ExeCom)showed their full support as the City of Koronadal, South Cotabato celebrated its 10th Tree Growing Festival last June 29.

Led by DILG XII Regional Director Josephine Cabrido-Leysa, CESO III, the ExeCom joined this year’s urban greening program and planted cherry blossom trees and other ornamental palms along General Santos Drive located in front of the Koronadal City Hall.

“As a resident of the city, I fully subscribe to the idea of the urban greening project. That is why we always support programs such as these, especially with the partnership of the city government,” Director Leysa said during the activity.

Provincial governments in Region XII will soon have their respective Customized Provincial Procurement Operations Manual (CPPOM), one of the major targets of the PLGUs under the Governance Reform of the Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces (CMGP) Program funded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

DILG XII, through its Program Development Management Unit (PDMU), recently facilitated a two-day virtual capacity development activity to finalize the CPPOM of the provinces of South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani. The Province of Cotabato has successfully finalized their CPPOM last year.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) XII has started the implementation of the three public market/farmers market (Bagsakan Centers) projects funded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) – Office of the Secretary.

DPWH XII Assistant Director Rosie C. Javate said these on-going projects include the completion of the Koronadal Public Market worth Php 30 million, and construction of the Sto. Niño and Tantangan Public Markets worth Php 7 million and Php 20 million, respectively, all in the province of South Cotabato.

Forty Seven (47) former rebels (FRs) received their immediate assistance worth Php 15,000.00 each and Php 50,000.00 each as their livelihood assistance during the awarding of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP) benefits at South Cotabato Gym and Cultural Center (SCGCC), City of Koronadal on June 6, 2020. Overall, each beneficiary received a total of Php 65,000.00. The releasing unit was able to receive Php 21,000.00 as administrative support while our Former Rebels stay and undergoing the screening/validation process.

All Local Chief Executives in SOCCSKSARGEN Region have given their full support in the passage of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020 which amends the Human Security Act of 2007.

During the Monday convocation on June 22, DILG XII Regional Director Josephine Cabrido-Leysa, CESO III revealed that the Region was able to secure the support of all its four provincial governors, four city mayors and 46 municipal mayors. This 100% support makes Region XII one of the highest regions in the country with the highest LCE support for the bill.
