The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) XII is calling for more resilient and self-sufficient LGUs, especially in times of crisis, by strengthening their revenue generation plans.

DILG XII Regional Director Josephine Cabrido-Leysa,CESO III said, LGUs have been greatly dependent to Internal Revenue Allotments (IRA) from the National Government, and this dependency “will not sustain the citizen’s needs in times of uncertainty” like this time of COVID-19 pandemic.

Focal and alternate focal persons on Localizing Executive Order 70 (LEO 70) from the Provinces of Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, South Cotabato and Cotabato Province gathered recently at the DILG Regional Office XII Conference Room in order to prepare for the necessary adjustments and approaches to counter the influence of insurgent groups in local communities of Region XII.

As part of its commitment to RIATF guidelines on scheduling regular disinfection days in government offices, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) XII has temporarily closed its Regional Office located at the Prime Regional Center, Koronadal City, South Cotabato on August 27 to 28.

Lockdowns and quarantines have not hampered efforts to reach out to partners and other players involved in the Localization of Executive Order No. 70 (LEO 70) with a series of virtual meetings that were conducted during the past few months.

“The advocacy on Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) has been sustained by the Department and we have utilized every available Apps for teleconferencing to ensure that our efforts will not be paralyzed, even by the pandemic,” DILG XII Regional Director Josephine Cabrido-Leysa, CESO III explained.

DILG XII has started implementing the work-from-home scheme for some of the Divisions at the Regional Office as earlier proposed by RD Josephine Cabrido-Leysa, CESO III.

The move came in the light of the recorded cases of possible Covid-19 transmission in Region XII which prompted the four provincial LGUs to effect stricter controls on its regional borders.

Dir. Leysa has signified the intention of implementing the work-from-home scheme for the regional office personnel to minimize the number of people who report for work, thereby lowering the exposure of its personnel and staff.
