DILG XII capacitates 8 LGUs on Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment (CDRA)

The Department of the Interior and Local Government XII capacitated the eight (8) pilot LGUs namely; Pigcawayan, Makilala, Kidapawan City, Koronadal City, Tampakan, Lambayong, Senator Ninoy Aquino, and Bagumbayan in doing the Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment (CDRA) on December 8-11, 2020 at The Farm @ Carpenter Hill, City of Koronadal.

 

The participants were composed of the LPDCs, LHOs, Local Agriculturists, LSWDOs, LDRRMOs, Local Engineers, and Mappers. They were trained on the six steps of CDRA and in mainstreaming the CDRA outputs to the local plans by the Regional Composite Team composed of DILG, PAGASA, MGB and DHSUD. Binrio Biňan, Chief Meteorological Officer, PAGASA-GenSan presented the Climate Projections which served as prime reference of the participants in identifying the impacts of various climate change stimuli. The inputs were used in the succeeding steps of CDRA delivered by Jovita Solarte, OIC Regional Director of DHSUD XII. On the other hand, Ariel Austin Acosta, Supervising Geologist of DENR-MGB XII shared his expertise in generating maps and hazards exposures of the LGUs. LGOO IV Relmie Tamson discussed the enhanced CDP process which provides the outline in mainstreaming the DRRM-CCA concerns in the said plan.

 

The participants composed of the planning team core members are expected to be the DRRM-CCA champions of their respective LGUs and consequently assist in updating the enhanced CDPs on or before May, 2021 as required by DILG Memorandum dated July 14, 2020.
