Expecting a surge in the number of requests for repatriation from distressed and stranded Overseas Filipino Workers scattered in various regions in the country, DILG Secretary Eduardo M. Ano directed all DILG regional directors and field officers, BARMM minister of local government and other concerned to establish the “DILG Overseas Filipino Workers’ (OFW) Desk and the designation of DILG-OFW Desk Officer at the region, province, highly urbanized city (HUC) and independent component city (ICC)”.

DILG XII RD Josephine Cabrido-Leysa, CESO III, urged local government officials that it’s ‘about time’ to prepare their ‘post-lockdown economic plans’ in anticipation for the gradual easing of the community quarantine measures in the region.

With a few days before the supposed deadline of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Region XII, Director Leysa RD issued the call, together with the Regional Covid 19 Task Force and Task Group, to ensure that all LGUs will be in lockstep with the rest in the Region.

“We have to prepare for the new normal.”

This is the challenge posed by DILG XII Regional Director Josephine Cabrido-Leysa, CESO III as another advisory on COVID-19 infection prevention measures was released recently.

The advisory, according to Dir. Leysa, simply urges everyone to adjust and adapt to the post-quarantine way-of-life which will be characterized by the mandatory wearing of face masks while in public, maintaining social distancing at all times and other infection prevention measures like the handwashing and frequent disinfection in designated places, both in government or private establishments.

Responding to the common clamor of residents who are still waiting for the financial assistance through the Social Amelioration Program of the DSWD, the Joint RIATF on Covid 19 has pushed for an immediate intervention to meet the people’s concern.

DILG XII Regional Director Josephine Cabrido-Leysa, CESO III issued an appeal to all Region XII residents who had been caught in community quarantines in various places in the country to immediately get in touch with authorities to help facilitate their return home.

This developed as the DILG XII-Regional Operation Center received plea for help from a group of tourists and OFWs alike who got caught in the enhanced community quarantine that was implemented in Cebu City.
