REPLICATION OF REGIONAL INITIATIVES ON LED: WRITESHOP/ WORKSHOP AND PRESENTATION OF LGU LED STORY

Three LED Model LGUs of the region joined the Write shop/workshop and Presentation of LGU LED Story participated by the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officers, Local Planning and Development Officers, Tourism Officers, Agriculturist/Agricultural Officers, Building Permit and Licensing Officers, Public Employment Service Officers, Information Officers/Writers, City Local Government Operations Officers, and DILG Provincial/City EODB Focal Persons at the Farm @ Carpenter Hill, City of Koronadal, South Cotabato on October 15-16, 2024.

These LED Model LGUs were from the two provinces of the region particularly Kidapawan City, Cotabato, City of Koronadal, South Cotabato, and the Highly Urbanized City of the region, General Santos City.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) XII, through the Local Government Capability Development Division (LGCDD) in collaboration with the Bureau of Local Government Development (BLGD) and select partner agencies from DTI and NEDA XII conducted the said activity.

The activity generally aims to document success stories on how the local government units (LGUs) recovered from pandemic either through tourism, agriculture, creative and cultural industries, and others.

In her opening message, DILG XII Regional Director Atty. Rochelle D. MahinaySero, CESE, represented by Hayd-Ali S. Suwaib, Officer In-Charge DILG XII/OIC Provincial Director, DILG South Cotabato, emphasized the importance to continuously innovate and discover best practices that could greatly contribute in improving and sustaining economic growth in the locality, and the essence of collaborative effort to provide the necessary knowledge and information that will create empowered local government units to become business-friendly and competitive LGUs in their own respective cities/localities.

The training was graced by the invited resource persons from DILG Regional Office XII and the Provincial Local Government Unit of South Cotabato with special participation of the invited partner agencies.

The two-day (2) write shop/workshop and presentation of LGU LED story ended with a closing message delivered by LGOO VII Maria Theresa D. Bautista, Division Chief of Local Government Capability Development Division. In her message, she thanked all the participants for their active participation, and mentioned that the presented LED Success Stories/Best Practices will serve as part of DILG Rehiyon Doses’ knowledge management and pride of the department as well, which may be used by other LGUs for possible replication.

The LGUs are expected to finish the final output of their documented LGU LED Story/Best Practice on the given deadline and to continuously strengthen their compliance with the provision of ARTA on EODB-EGSD Act at their level.
