Regional Inter-agency Monitoring Task Force (RIMTF) Conducts M&e on the Functionality of P/HUC/ICC’s Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) in Region XII

The Regional Inter-Agency Monitoring Task Force (RIMTF) conducted the Monitoring and Evaluation of the Functionality of P/HUC/ICC’s Local Council for the Protection of Children in Region XII from April 23, 2018 until April 27, 2018 for the Local Government Units of Cotabato Province, Cotabato City, Sarangani, Sultan Kudarat, South Cotabato, and General Santos City.

The team was composed of representatives from the different offices, namely: AA II Aslamia A. Kumpo and AA IV Joanne A. Castre from DILG XII; SWO I Shierra I. Usop and SWO III Sahabudin M. Kuli from DSWD XII; Dr. Marilou Barbara T. Libatique from DOH XII; Sr. EDS Apollo Y. Manlawe from NEDA XII; Legal Asst. II Marjolyn B. Dasilao-Ballais from DEPED XII, NO II Leah Fe Utlang from NNC XII, IO III Aida C. Agad from PIA XII, and; CM Nelson A. Oquias from Save the Children. The group validated the documents/reports supporting the functionality of P/CPCs. After every activity, the RIMTF conducted an Exit Conference was facilitated with the concerned LCE/representative handling children’s concerns to brief them on the results of the evaluation.

A post-evaluation meeting was conducted on May 2, 2018 where the team finalized the results of the visits and deliberated some issues encountered during the activity. The most functional LCPCs (P/C) shall be given a Plaque of Recognition during the culmination of the Children’s Month Celebration on November 2018.

The Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) is an institutional mechanism in the Local Government Units (LGUs) harnessed to be an efficient and effective advocate of child rights and implementer of all children programs. The DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2011-121 encouraged all LGUs to organize/reorganize their respective LCPCs pursuant to Republic Act Nos. 4881 and 8980 and Presidential Decree No. 603, as amended, with the responsibility in planning and spearheading programs for children at all level.
