“Appreciate your jobs. Do your best.”
This was part of the central message of RD Josephine Cabrido-Leysa, CESO III for all the personnel and staff of the Regional Office during the first and second working weeks of 2021.
RD Leysa welcomed the handful of regular employees in attendance during the first working day on January 4 since contract-of-service (COS) workers were still to go through their scheduled virtual interviews and they were given time to prepare needed documents for renewal.
Presently, there are 43 regular personnel at the Regional Office, with an equal number of COS workers. Only one employee has opted to retire before 2020 ended, leaving the Regional Office with about 42 regular employees.
Director Leysa expressed hope that “2021 will be a better year” and that the most recent Christmas celebration had been “merry.” She reminded each one to give genuine appreciation to all the things that matter, which had been highlighted during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Let us all be aware of the blessings that we already have -- a stable, secure job in the government. We all know that the lockdowns and quarantines decimated a lot of businesses and those who work for the government are the ones with the upper hand, the bigger advantage.” She added that ‘“we ought to give our best shot, especially for this year” as a way to return the favor that has been given to a few’.
Director Leysa promised that she will ensure that trainings and skills-development activities will be part of the package for self-improvement in 2021.
“We want you all to be constantly upgrading, molding yourself. It is part of our branding as Matino, Mahusay, Maasahan. I think that is the least we can do for our government, the people we serve,” Dir. Leysa added.
During the latter part of the day, RD Leysa convened the Regional Execom to prepare for the ISO compliances and other goal-setting activities. “We are doing this as part of our desire to start right”, the Director stressed out.
On the second week, RD Leysa re-echoed her message and this time, in the presence of the recently renewed contract of service personnel attending the Monday convocation. RD Leysa congratulated the newly-hired COS workers and challenged each of them to excel in their endeavors.
“This is another chance for you and I hope that you will, in return, give it your best shot. After all, your performance will determine your fate for renewal next year,” Director Leysa explained.
