MALUNGON, Sarangani Province – The Department of the Interior and Local Government has awarded two local government units and the provincial government itself with the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance after being deemed to have satisfactorily complied with the prescribe qualification in the lookup of an accountable and transparent governance.
 
The awards signed by no less DILG Secretary Ismael D. Sueno, were given by DILG12 regional director Reynaldo M. Bungubung to Malungon Mayor Maria Theresa D. Costantino and Mayor Aniceo P. Lopez Jr of Maasim town, before the presence of ranking provincial government and line- agency officials, and employees of the Provincial Capitol at the capital town of Alabel, right after the customary flag raising ceremony on Monday (March 20).
 
In their respective speeches, Mayors Constantino and Lopez have extended gratitude, not merely for receiving the accolades, but also for all the support coming from the national and provincial government and their respective department heads, which have played a vital role in attaining their respective missions for the interests and security of their beloved constituents.
 
For her part, the younger Constantino, who just took office on July last year, humbly gave credit to her father’s (undefeated three-termed former Mayor Reynaldo F. Constantino) administration, who had enabled to receive awards and cash rewards from the local government department, which includes the latest nationwide search for the cy 2015 “SGLG” recipients.
 
“I would like to receive the award as I pass the honor to where the credit is due,” said Constantino, as she quotes an in scripted verse of the Corinthian’s, and urge government employees to serve with a heart and not just for monetary considerations.
 
In his acceptance message, Mayor Lopez also cited high regard to the Provincial Government of Sarangani, the DILG family, and local department heads for all the backup that have paved way for him to attain the desired positive changes for his beloved Maasim.
 
In a phone interview, Flor G Limpin, DILG provincial director, said the search dubbed as “Pagkilala sa Katapatan at Kahusayan ng Pamahalaang Lokal" or SGLG, is the bestowal of a Seal to Local Government Units (LGUs) that adheres to performance criteria on financial administration, catastrophe readiness, social security, business friendliness and competitiveness, environmental management, and the maintenance of law and order.
