
The Municipality of Makilala, Cotabato officially launched the Electronic Local Government Unit (eLGU) System on April 2, 2025, marking a significant milestone in its journey toward digital transformation.The event participated by LGU department heads, punong barangays and esteemed guests from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) XII and Mainland BARMM, the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) Easter Mindanao Region, and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) XII with the presence of Hon. Vice Mayor Atty. Ryan Tabanay of Makilala.
In alignment with the national directive to accelerate digitalization, Atty. Rochelle D. Mahinay-Sero, CESE, DILG XII Regional Director, emphasized the Department’s commitment to advancing governance through technology and innovation. Through the UNITE agenda, the DILG is actively working towards one of its priority thrusts—transforming government services to be more accessible, transparent, and efficient through digital solutions.
DILG Rehiyon Dose alongside ARTA and DICT supports the acceleration of LGU streamlining and digitalization to improve public service efficiency. The Electronic Local Government Unit (eLGU) System, a flagship initiative of the Philippine Government through the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), is designed to simplify permitting procedures, optimize government services, and ensure seamless transactions between citizens and local government units. This digital transformation fosters a more responsive, efficient, and accessible governance system for all.
The launch of the eLGU system in Makilala marks a significant milestone in the LGU’s journey toward digital transformation. Beyond compliance with R.A. 11032, also known as the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery (EODB-EGSD) Act of 2018, this initiative reinforces the government’s commitment to streamlining transactions and enhancing public service.
Embracing eLGU system in the emerging digital world will help fulfill and realize PBBM’s eight-point Socio Economic Agenda on the Bureaucratic Efficiency gears towards digitalization of government processes and operations. This move reinforces the municipality’s dedication to leveraging technology for a more responsive and citizen-centered governance.
