On June 26, 2023, the Dangerous Drugs Board is once again leading the celebration of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT) to strengthen global action and cooperation in achieving a world free of drug abuse.
The IDADAIT 2023 theme - “People first: stop stigma and discrimination, strengthen prevention” - aims to raise awareness about the importance of treating people who use drugs with respect and empathy; providing evidence-based, voluntary services for all; offering alternatives to punishment; prioritizing prevention; and leading with compassion.
The campaign also aims to combat stigma and discrimination against people who use drugs by promoting language and attitudes that are respectful and non-judgmental.
DDB responds to this call by sustaining an evidence-based approach to enhance the government’s anti-illegal drugs strategy and campaign that puts emphasis to prevention, education, rehabilitation, and reintegration guided by Filipino’s core values of malasakit and pagkalinga.
