DEPED XII INTER-OFFICE FREEDOM WALL COMPETITION HIGHLIGHTS CREATIVITY AND WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT

The second segment of the program during Department of Education (DepEd) XII Women’s Month Celebration featured the much-anticipated Inter-Office Freedom Wall Competition. It is a vibrant and meaningful activity that allows employees to express their thoughts, advocacies, and creative talents in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Local Government Operations Officer (LGOO) V. Cristy Jane A. Buenaflor and LGOO II Rudelyn V. Timogtimog, who are the DILG XII Regional GAD Focal Persons, judged the entries based on how creative they were, how well they fit the theme, and how much of an impact they had overall. Beyond the awards, the Freedom Wall competition served as a reminder that everyone has a role to play in advocating for gender equality and women’s empowerment.

The initial round of the competition provided a platform for different DepEd XII offices to creatively showcase their support for gender equality and the event’s theme, "Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor: Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas." Each participating office was given a dedicated space where they could design and write messages, illustrations, and reflections related to women’s roles in education, leadership, governance, and nation-building. The walls became filled with inspiring quotes, drawings of influential Filipinas, personal pledges to support gender equality, and messages of encouragement for future generations of women leaders.

The Freedom Wall stood as a symbol of unity, progress, and the shared vision of a future where every Filipina is empowered to rise. The final round of the competition will be on March 28, 2025.
