Eight local government units in the region joined the coaching session on the Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness Indicators for the Committee on Anti-Red Tape (CART) Chairperson, Business Permit and Licensing Officer (BPLO), Building Official (BO), and DILG Provincial/City EODB Focal Persons at the Paraiso Verde Hotel and Resort, City of Koronadal, South Cotabato on June 26-28, 2024.
These LGUs were from the four provinces of the region particularly Malapatan, Sarangani; Tacurong City and Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat; Kidapawan City and Midsayap, Cotabato; City of Koronadal and Polomolok, South Cotabato and General Santos City.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) XII, through the Local Government Capability Development Division (LGCDD), in coordination with the Bureau of Local Government Development (BLGD) and the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) conducted the said activity.
The coaching session generally aims to orient and enhance the technical competencies of LGU functionaries on the salient features of EODB-related laws and policy guidelines issued by the Department, various streamlining initiatives, business-friendliness and competitiveness indicators under SGLG awards, and to improve the performance of LGUs on EODB law compliance.
In her opening message, DILG XII OIC Regional Director Atty. Rochelle D. Mahinay-Sero, CESE, represented by Jon Leo J. Licayan, CPA, LGOO V/Chief of Staff, emphasized the importance of embracing digitalization in improving the LGUs’ service delivery to reduce the bureaucratic red tape and processing time, and strongly urged all LGU participants to ensure that their respective LGUs have complied with the requirements of RA 11032, and consequently increase the number of LGUs that are compliant with the Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness area of SGLG.
The training was graced by the invited resource persons from Anti-Red Tape Authority Eastern Mindanao Regional Filed Office, Bureau of Fire Protection of the City of Koronadal and the DILG Provincial EODB Focal Persons and Local Government Capability Development Division personnel.
The LGUs are expected to comply with the provision of ARTA on EODB-EGSD Act at their level.
