For the 19th week of the Barangay Kalinisan Day, the DILG Dose showcased the commendable communal cooperation, dedication and commitment for environmental stewardship of Barangay Colon, Maasim, Sarangani Province.
At least 104 participants joined the clean-up drive composed of residents of Barangay Colon, 4Ps and TUPAD beneficiaries, local officials and personnel, members of the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Department of the Interior and Local Government XII last May 18, 2024. The activity cumulatively collected 250 kilos trash.
This convergence of collaborative efforts and impressive display of unity and dedication meant to safeguard the coastal ecosystem and nurture the communities it sustains.
In her address, OIC-Regional Director Atty. Rochelle D. Mahinay-Sero CESE, emphasized the importance of the shared responsibility of community endeavors and the urgency of sustainable waste management practices.
As a response Liga ng Barangay (LnB) President Hon. Mark Joseph Pacquiao, expressed steadfast support on behalf of his council and constituents to promote cleanliness endeavors and sustainability of within the barangay.
This was followed by the symbolic pledge of commitment; the participants with raised hands echoed in unison their vow to uphold cleanliness, environmental responsibility, and community solidarity. The subsequent commitment signing stands as a testament to their resolute dedication to environmental protection.
Also present during the event were Municipal Mayor Hon. Zyrex C. Pacquiao, L Barangay Colon Punong Barangay Mark Joseph c. Pacquiao, members of the LGMED Assistant Division Chief Ian Jon Clemente, Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Melencio R. Balanag, Jr., and DILG Sarangani Program Manager Mary Grace D. Santarin.
The participants, now endured with the spirit of Bayanihan, left the event with the renewed sense of purpose of taking care of the environment for the betterment of the future of the next generation.
