Around 800 invitees composed of the Local Chief Executives, Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB), inter-Faith Group Organizations, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), C/M Health Officers (C/MHOs), City/Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers (C/MSWDOs), Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC), National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) and other stakeholders, gathered during the Regional Launching of the Mamamayang Ayaw sa Anomalya, Mamamayang Ayaw sa Iligal na Droga (MASA MASID) program on November 3, 2016 at the Phela Grande Convention Center, General Santos City.
MASA MASID is a program of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in support to the pronouncement of the President to suppress illegal drugs, criminality and corruption. It is a barangay-based program that encourages communities to get involved in helping the government to get rid of crime and illegal drugs, and to intensify the spirit of volunteerism at the community level.
Assistant Secretary for Barangay Affairs and Community Development, ASEC Roosque B. Calacat, presented the concept and the implementation strategies of MASA MASID program.
National Barangay Operations Office (NBOO) Officer-in-Charge, Dr. Reinelda C Raffiñan, presented the premise of Community-Based Rehabilitation Program (CBRP). This program shall serve as the intervention for the drug surrendereers.
In the video message of DILG Secretary Ismael “Mike” Sueno, he thanked all the participants for gracing the activity, and he encouraged everyone to take a proactive stance in the government’s fight against illegal drugs, corruption and criminality.
DILG XII Regional Director Reynaldo M. Bungubung, CESO IV conveyed his happiness for the full support of all the concerned stakeholders in the region, and he thanked everyone for the great success of the launching.
