The Department of the Interior and Local Government, in coordination with the Office of Civil Defense, conducted the three-day training on the Basic Incident Command System on October 24-26, 2018 at Villa Amor Hotel, Koronadal City.

Thirty three (33) DILG organic personnel from the Provincial Offices and the Regional Office toiled to pass the BICS and now eligible to proceed to the level two, Integrated Planning. These personnel are those who are, in one way or another, involved in the DRRM-CCA program implementation and possess the right skills to comprise the Regional IMT or become Incident Commanders when the situation requires per assessment of the regional management.

RD Reynaldo M. Bungubung, CESO IV acknowledged the expanding role of the DILG as the Vice Chairperson for Disaster Preparedness. In his words, the DILG Officers have become known partners of the LDRRMOs in preparing the region in any looming threats. The office remained vital in reminding the LGUs of their preparedness actions to be taken before, and even during and after disasters. He therefore believes that the best way to attain zero casualty after disasters is to arm the LGOOs with the knowledge of the various tools in DRRM.

The regional management has already scheduled the Level 2 training come December of the current year while the rest will be conducted next year. This is an initiative of the office to produce new breed of ICS Cadre who are dependable in managing incidents.
