
RGADC XII SERYE SA DOSE GAD LEARNING SESSION ON FIRE SAFETY AND PREVENTION ORIENTATION IN CELEBRATION OF THE
NATIONAL WOMEN’S MONTH
March 17, 2025: In celebration of the National Women’s Month, the Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) XII, together with DILG XII, conducted a Serye sa Dose GAD Learning Session on Fire Safety and Prevention at the DILG XII Conference Room, Prime Regional Center, City of Koronadal, South Cotabato. The initiative aimed to equip gender advocates with the necessary knowledge and skills to prevent fire-related incidents and respond effectively to emergencies.
The event brought together representatives from government agencies, local government units, organizations, and institutions under the RGADC XII umbrella and DILG XII personnel, emphasizing the role of women and gender-responsive leadership in disaster preparedness and risk reduction.
This initiative aligns with Executive Order No. 273, s. 1995, which institutionalizes Gender and Development (GAD) efforts in government policies and programs. By integrating fire safety training into GAD initiatives, RGADC XII highlights the importance of gender-responsive leadership in disaster risk reduction and community resilience.
SFO2 Hermerrie L. Cabanban, FO2 April Jade A. Vicedo, and FO1 Mike Raphael P. Pablo from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) XII led the interactive discussions on the understanding of fire hazards in workplaces and public spaces, fire prevention strategies, and the importance of regular safety inspections, proper handling of fire emergencies, including first-aid response for burns and smoke inhalation, and the role of gender in disaster preparedness, highlighting how women can take the lead in promoting fire safety awareness within communities.
“This training is essential because fire safety is not just a technical issue; it’s a social responsibility. By involving gender advocates, we ensure that fire prevention awareness reaches diverse sectors,” said SFO2 Cabanban, one of the lead trainers.
