The Support for the Local Governance Program (SLGP) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) held a 3-day Seminar Workshop from August 7-9, 2024, focused on preparing for major upcoming events like the Local Governance Summit, and the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) Summit. The event took place at the Pine Function Hall, Sequoia Hotel, Quezon City.

DILG Dose, represented by LGCDD Chief Jermie Erie Yeager, LGOO III Kimberly Tuanzon, and SLGP RCT DMO III Ana Louwel V. Cabrido, joined other DILG personnel from other regions on the said event. The workshop covered topics such as Open Government Partnership (OGP) Localization and how to align training modules with local CSO needs, setting the stage for enhanced local governance initiatives.

Participants were also engaged in an in-depth discussion on the inventory and prioritization of training modules, ensuring that future capacity-building efforts are well-aligned with the needs of local CSOs.

The activity concluded with a message from Bureau Director of Local Governance Supervision (BLGS) Debbie Torres, CESO IV. In her closing remarks, she emphasized the importance of collaboration and innovation in governance.

“Our journey towards stronger local governance is a shared responsibility. The insights and plans developed during this workshop will pave the way for more inclusive and effective governance at the local level. Let us continue to work together, not just as government officials, but as partners in creating a resilient and empowered nation,” Director Torres said.

The workshop outcomes are expected to significantly influence the direction of local governance and civil society engagement in the coming months, laying the foundation for more robust and participatory governance structures across the country.
