DILG XII and SCPC Forged a Partnership for Tingog South Cotabato Awards

August 2, 2024 - The Department of the Interior and Local Government Region XII and the South Cotabato Press Corps (SCPC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to formalize their collaboration for the Tingog South Cotabato Awards.

This initiative, spearheaded by SCPC — a coalition of 18 media entities across South Cotabato — aims to honor local public officials as well as national government agencies and bureaus for their steadfast dedication to effective media relations.

SCPC President Juster Gniess C. Godio emphasized the award’s dual purpose: to motivate officials and institutions to address the public’s information needs and to encourage media entities to provide timely and accurate information. Godio hopes this award will elevate the role of media personnel, fostering mutual respect and collaboration.

“I hope this will mark the beginning of a new era for the South Cotabato Press Corps. We aim to provide accurate and timely information and seek acknowledgment from local officials and NGAs, not just as media, but as a crucial institution contributing to society,” Godio stated.

Meanwhile, in her message of support, DILG XII Regional Director Atty. Rochelle D. Mahinay-Sero underscored the critical role of media in today’s data driven world. She also praised the award for its potential to inspire government leaders, private institutions, and other stakeholders to enhance their communication efforts. She affirmed DILG's full support, noting the importance of media in promoting transparency, accountability, and effective public communication.

“DILG DOSE wholeheartedly supports Tingog South Cotabato Award and we are proud to stand alongside South Cotabato Press Corps and other partneragencies who encourage trust and carry the spirit of openness through their remarkable efforts in public communication”
