The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region XII showed its strong support during the 51st Nutrition Month Kick-Off Celebration held on July 1, 2025, at Veranza Mall, General Santos City. This year’s theme, “Food at Nutrition Security, Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin!”, underscores the urgent call for better access to food and proper nutrition across all communities.

The event, which began with a motorcade around the city, gathered representatives from national agencies, local government units, civil society organizations, and other development partners. It supports the goals of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2023–2028, a national framework aimed at addressing hunger and malnutrition.

Representing Regional Director Atty. Rochelle D. Mahinay-Sero, CESE, OIC-Assistant Regional Director Engr. Samuel A. Camaganacan delivered DILG’s message of commitment. He encouraged LGUs to prioritize nutrition initiatives at the barangay level, emphasizing their frontline role in delivering sustainable nutrition programs. In the succeeding press conference, he also discussed the importance of aligning local actions with national nutrition goals.

Throughout July, a series of advocacy campaigns, information drives, and community-based initiatives will unfold across Region XII to promote healthier diets and equitable food access for every Filipino family.
