DILG LCAT-VAWC Regional Focal Person attended the Training of Trainers on Strengthening the Capacities of Local Government Units in Handling VAW and GBV Cases

Saligan, in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), conducted a Training of Trainers focused on enhancing the capabilities of Local Government Units (LGUs) in addressing Violence Against Women (VAW) and Gender Based Violence (GBV) from January 20–24, 2025, at the Luxent Hotel in Quezon City.

The training aimed to prepare selected DILG Local Committee on Anti Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children (LCAT-VAWC) Regional Focal Persons to become trainers in their regions. The program included lectures and interactive activities on legal frameworks, mandatory services, and the establishment of VAW and Anti-Sexual Harassment Desks within LGUs. Participants learned to effectively apply these laws in local governance and developed regional roll-out plans to implement their knowledge. The training concluded with participants presenting action plans to guide future regional training and foster a proactive approach to combatting gender-based violence nationwide.
