DILG REHIYON DOSE JOINS THE IMPACTFUL “ARAW NG KALAYAAN PARA SA BATANG MALAYA”

Koronadal City, June 12, 2024 – In a momentous event coinciding with the World Day Against Child Labor and the 126th Philippine Independence Day, the Department of the Interior and local Government XII joined the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 12, in collaboration with various government agencies, in the conduct of the "Araw ng Kalayaan Para sa Batang Malaya" at the KCC Convention Center in Koronadal City.

The event was a collective effort that saw participation from various agencies such as the Philippine National Police (PNP), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) XII, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) XII, Department of Health (DOH) 12, National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Department of Education (DepEd), and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and other stakeholders.

Focused on addressing child labor issues, the event provided comprehensive support and education to seventy-five profiled child laborers and their parents. Key activities included orientations on responsible parenthood and child rights, ensuring participants received critical information on protecting and promoting the welfare of children.

A highlight of the day was the service caravan, where various services and resources were made available to attendees. This initiative aimed to equip families with the necessary tools and support to prevent child labor and promote children's rights and well-being.

"This event underscores our commitment to eradicating child labor and upholding the rights and dignity of every child," said DOLE Assistant Regional Director. "By working together with our partner agencies, we are building a future where every child can enjoy their rights and freedoms."

The celebration not only highlighted the nation's rich history and independence but also reflected a united stand against child labor, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in ensuring a brighter, safer future for all Filipino children.

As the day concluded, the impact of the "Araw ng Kalayaan Para sa Batang Malaya" resonated with attendees, leaving a lasting impression of hope and commitment towards a child-labor-free Philippines.
