17th Week of Barangay Kalinisan Day: A Catalyst for Environmental Advocacy Barangay Cannery, Polomolok, South Cotabato - May 04, 2024

The 17th week of Barangay Kalinisan Day (BARKADA) in Barangay Cannery, Polomolok showcased a remarkable display of communal effort in advancing environmental stewardship. Led Led by Rehiyon Dose’s Regional Director, Atty. Rochelle Mahinay-Sero, CESE, together with South Cotabato Provincial Director Hayd-Ali S. Suwaib, LGMED Division Chief Musarapha A. ALim, LGMED Assistant Division Chief Jon Ian Clemente, Supervising Administrative Officer Katherine Llano, Chief of Staff Jon Leo Licayan and other regional and provincial personnel.

 

Among the dignitaries present were Sangguniang Bayan Jingle Bansuelo, LnB President Jesse G. Bontuyan, and Barangay Cannery Punong Barangay Rogen C. Ermitanio, alongside their counterparts from other barangays of Polomolok, as well as department heads and staff from the LGU.

 

The cleanup initiative garnered significant community engagement, with nearly three hundred residents actively participating. Furthermore, the support extended by various sectors such as the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Jail and Penology (BJMP), and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) underscored the shared responsibility towards environmental preservation, all committed to building community bonds and resilience.

 

In her address, OIC Regional Director Atty. Sero emphasized the importance of collective purpose, stating, "Together, let us pursue a goal that we all know will benefit us, especially the succeeding generations and kaya kami nandito ngayon, tuwing Sabado natin ginagawa ang Barangay Kalinisan Day o BARKADA upang Isaisip, isapuso, at isabuhay natin ang kalinisan.”

 

LnB President Hon. Jesse G. Bontuyan reaffirmed the community's steadfast support for ongoing cleanliness initiatives.

 

The commitment ceremony, led by SB Bansuelo, saw participants pledging to uphold cleanliness, environmental stewardship, and community solidarity. Their collective vow, symbolized through raised hands and echoed words and the signing of the commitment afterward stands as a testament to their resolute dedication to a cleaner, brighter future for generations to come.

 

In conclusion, Punong Barangay Ermitanio expressed unwavering support on behalf of his council and constituents for all future cleanup endeavors. He affirmed their dedication and pledged active participation in fostering cleanliness and sustainability within their barangay.
