March 18, 2024 – The third week of Serye sa Dose, an informative series aimed at empowering Filipinos, concluded with discussions on maternity leave rights and a meaningful bloodletting activity. Organized in line with the celebration of Women’s Month, the event shed light on pertinent issues facing women in the workforce and emphasized the importance of community engagement.
The session commenced with an enlightening discourse on maternity leave rights under RA No. 1121, led by Civil Service Commission XII Regional Director, Dr. Grace Belgado-Saqueton, CPA. Dr. Belgado-Saqueton provided valuable insights into the provisions of the law, highlighting its significance in ensuring gender equality and supporting the welfare of working mothers. Attendees gained a deeper understanding of their entitlements and the necessary steps to avail of maternity leave benefits, contributing to a more informed and empowered workforce.
Following the discussion on maternity leave, the event transitioned to a meaningful community engagement activity—the Bloodletting Activity in collaboration with the Philippine Red Cross, South Cotabato Chapter. Participants had the opportunity to make a tangible difference by donating blood, thereby potentially saving lives and supporting healthcare initiatives in the region. The activity underscored the importance of solidarity and collective action in addressing societal needs, reflecting the spirit of compassion and altruism.
In addition to raising awareness on maternity leave rights and promoting community health, the event exemplified the theme of Women’s Month, “Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas; Kakayahan ng Kababaihan, Patutunayan”. It emphasized the pivotal role of women in nation-building and the need for equitable opportunities to unleash their full potential.
