DILG XII STRENGTHENS REGIONAL GOVERNANCE DIRECTION IN STRATEGIC MEETING WITH USLG

February 18, 2026

On February 11, 2026, the Regional Executive Committee of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region XII convened with Undersecretary Marlo L. Iringan at the Dole Kalsangi Club House in Polomolok, South Cotabato for a high-level strategic dialogue aimed at advancing governance reforms and institutional priorities in the region.

The meeting served as a focused platform for aligning regional initiatives with national policy directions, particularly in the areas of open governance, institutional development, performance monitoring, and local governance support. A key agenda discussed was the progress of the Philippine Open Government Partnership (PH-OGP) advocacy initiatives in Region XII.

The Regional Management presented milestones achieved and outlined strategies to further institutionalize transparency, citizen participation, and accountability mechanisms across local government units (LGUs). The Committee also presented the Regional Institutional Development Support (RIDS) priorities for Calendar Year 2026, following the outcome of the roundtable discussion held earlier this month with DILG Asec. Ester A. Aldana and SLGP Program Manager Richard L. Villacorte.

The session ensured that capacity development interventions for LGUs remain strategic, measurable, and responsive to evolving governance challenges. Updates on Local Project Monitoring Committee (LPMC) implementation were likewise tackled, with emphasis on refining monitoring frameworks to enhance oversight and results-based project implementation.

The meeting concluded with a strategic alignment discussion on the Support to Local Governance Program (SLGP), reviewing operational progress and identifying areas for improvement to ensure effective delivery of assistance to LGUs.
