The Department of the Interior and Local Government, in partnership with the local government of General Santos joined 73 local government units across the country in the landmark lighting, to celebrate ASEAN’s 50th Anniversary on August 8, 2017. The event is a symbolic expression of the ASEAN 50 theme, “Under One Light, We Are One ASEAN”.

DILG XII ARD Lailyn Ortiz, Mayor Ronnel C. Rivera, Vice Mayor Shirlyn Bañas-Nograles, Councilor Jose Edmar Yumang, Councilor Rosalita Nuñez, Councilor Jose Orlando Acharon, DILG City Dir. Atty. Rochelle M. Sero and other dignitaries lead the Lighting of the ASEAN LANDMARK.

    The Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) XII held its 2nd Quarter Meeting for CY 2017 on July 11, 2017 at the Sultan’s Hall, Provincial Office, Isulan, Sultan Kudarat Province and it was graced by National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Commissioner Felizardo M. Serapio, Jr.
Commissioner Serapio focused his discussion on the Withdrawal of the Deputation of the Power over the PNP of Sultan Kudarat Governor Datu “Pax” Mangudadatu, Cotabato City Mayor Frances Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi and all the twelve (12) Mayors in the Province of Sultan Kudarat.

During the Fourth Management Committee Meeting on July 20, 2017 at Sarangani Highlands Garden, General Santos City, RD Reynaldo M. Bungubung, CESO IV and OIC ARD Lailyn A. Ortiz, CESE administered the turn-over ceremony of the Gabay at Mapa Materials to the Provincial and City Directors for their distribution to the local government units situated near the Major River Basins in the Region.

In 2017, DILG XII portrays enthusiasm and commitment to engage again with the flagship program of the Department- the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG). All of its fifty-four (54) provincial, city and municipal LGUs are prepared for the endeavor. All the LGPMS Team of the LGUs were reorganized and the SGLG Group account was created for constant update and for avenue of forum to address the issues and concerns encountered during the phases of the program implementation.

    On the 6th day of July, 2017 in Makati City, the Local Government Academy (LGA) in partnership with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) conducted the Sustainable Development Goals- Family- based Actions for Children and their Environs in the Slums (SDG- FACES) Project: 1st Business Meeting for Mindanao Cluster.
